What Vegetables are in Season?

What's the difference between 'seasonal' and 'available'?

Many of our vegetables here in New Zealand are 'seasonal'. This means that they have peak seasons where they're the cheapest, most abundant, and most nutritious.

When a vegetable is out of season, we may still be able to grow it but it may not be at its best, or we might import it from other countries often increasing its price and reducing quality.

This means that while produce might still be 'available' to purchase year-round, it's often more expensive and not at its peak of flavour or nutrition.
